An Artful Life
Wichita’s arts and culture scene doesn’t just exist, it’s embraced, lived and celebrated across a wide spectrum of residents. It’s not unusual to find bankers next to tattoo artists at the same event, show, museum or concert. Wichita’s arts scene is one of the engines of the city’s urban redevelopment and continues to rev the community’s originality vibe. From visual arts to a stellar performing arts scene, Wichita is a place for you to embrace fun endlessly.
The Douglas Design District, located just east of downtown, convinced businesses to donate street-facing walls to local artists. Now, more than 60 murals bring lots of local color to the area.
Downtown Wichita features Gallery Alley, an underutilized brick alleyway transformed into an art gallery featuring local artists during Final Friday and live acoustic music performances throughout the summer.

Every summer Music Theatre Wichita presents five Broadway-caliber musicals casted using a unique mixture of top-flight professionals from Broadway and Hollywood working hand-in-hand with talented Midwesterners and young adults.
With over 75 years in existence, the Wichita Symphony Orchestra presents eight classic concert Masterworks series, as well as modern Pops concerts, Family Concerts and free, citywide presentations. They even play to Star Wars and the Wizard of Oz!
