Meet Dr. Harrison Black, a 35-year-old dentist with a deep connection to his hometown of Wichita, Kansas. As the proud father of three children, 13, 7, and one, Black recently moved back to Wichita and set up his own dentistry practice in the heart of College Hill. Let’s delve into his journey, experiences, and vision for his practice and the city he calls home.
Black was born and raised in Wichita. After high school, he pursued his dental education at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri before venturing to the University of Louisville for dental school. He then completed his pediatric residency in Tampa, Florida. Despite his travels, Black felt a strong pull back to Wichita, making the decision to return with his family in the summer of 2019.
When asked about what sets Wichita apart from the other cities, Black emphasized the importance of family. Having his roots and loved ones in Wichita played a pivotal role in his decision to return. The sense of community, affordability, and family-oriented atmosphere makes “Wichita a cozy Midwest city,” Black shared.
Driven to provide direct and personalized dental services to his community, Black started his dentistry practice in August 2019. Choosing College Hill, located in east Wichita, was a natural decision. His childhood home is nearby, and he said he has always admired the cultural richness of the area. Being part of the growth and development in College Hill aligns with Black’s vision for his practice.
Black’s practice is rooted in the three c’s: care, compassion and community. It’s a reflection of his commitment to creating a welcoming and safe environment for children and their parents.
Black says, “College Hill, where I make a positive impact, embodies a community spirit I cherish. Choosing Wichita was choosing to invest in the heart of a thriving community.”
