Feast Your Eyes on Peace Love & Pie

As the master pieologist (like a mad scientist of pie) at Peace Love & Pie, Hannah Schriever spends her days dreaming up the perfect recipes to give you a magical dessert experience, reminiscent of childhood excitement.

Whether you’re a connoisseur of the classics like apple, cherry and peach pies, or you’re a trailblazer looking for that original take on dessert (like the shop’s crookies, pie shakes and pie fries), you’ll find your slice of paradise at this retro-vibe eatery. There are gluten-free options on its rotating menu, too.

Peace Love & Pie was founded with a dedication to serving locally-sourced seasonal ingredients, building strong community ties and harboring a strong passion for culinary creativity. The shop has a traveling “pie van” to spread the love for dessert to the masses. Its brick-and-mortar location in downtown was set to open shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We were really ready to come out strong, and then the pandemic shut everything down,” said Schriever. “But despite that unprecedented moment, Wichita showed up and came together to support each other and our small businesses. It’s the first time I’ve felt unanimous compassion.”

That support helped Schriever and her “small but mighty” team of bakers, pieologists and local suppliers refine their offerings over the summer, ready to take on the holiday season – all while supplying their sister restaurant, Homegrown, with their famous, made-from-scratch pop tarts.

Peace Love & Pie at Naftzger Park provides the perfect setting for enjoying a slice of pie with a locally-roasted cup of coffee or a perfectly-paired glass of wine, hand-selected by a local wine educator.

“It’s really amazing to be a part of a dynamic and engaging park like Natfzger,” said Schriever. “Our shop is a great place to visit and do work, study and also have a slice of pie and glass of wine with your friends and family. It’s a gathering place, and we’re thrilled to be a part of so many people’s joyful experiences."

The lively interior is emphasized by a large neon sign featuring the words “Enjoy the Journey.” At Peace Love & Pie, the journey may start with pie, but it will have you coming back for another magical dessert encounter.

Pie brings peace to the world. We hope we can create a great experience and strengthen those wonderful memories, that nostalgia and hope and joy. We’re excited to share our passion with everyone who visits us. –Hannah Schriever, Master Pieologist

WHAT MAKES RESIDENTS LOVE RIVERSIDE

My girlfriend Maggie and I had some serious FOMO when it came to life in Riverside. We knew the neighborhood was historic and peaceful, but we didn’t know just how much we were missing out on until we settled in. That’s when we noticed the many nuances of Riverside that make it so original.
